Visual impairments can cause individuals to have difficulties with everyday activities such as reading, recognising faces and walking. Some individuals may have vision loss and need support with adaptive training and equipment.

Communication is very important when it comes to supporting someone with a visual impairment.  For example, using the person’s name so they know you are talking to them. Touch may be required to help with direction. You made need to explain what is in the area around the person. You should always be in a position for your face to be in view if partially sighted and decrease noise levels so the person can hear instructions and what may be being discussed.
