Health and safety legislation should not prevent disabled people from finding or staying in employment and should not be used as a false excuse to justify discriminating against disabled workers. The legislation is to enable disabled people and those with health conditions, including mental health conditions, to get into and stay in work, without fear of being excluded or treated unfairly.

The guidance will help those employing disabled people to understand their health and safety responsibilities, which would include making reasonable adjustments, completing risk assessments, and ensuring that individuals have equal opportunities to progress and flourish while employed.
